Frequently Asked Questions on Children Available
- When we get to Ukraine, does the Adoption Center give us a list of children available?
The Adoption Center will show you pictures of some of the children available in the age range you are seeking. Then you travel to that region and meet the children in person. Sometimes they have more children available for you to choose from than you are shown at the Center.
- Does the Adoption Center tell us which orphanages we may go to?
The orphanage and the region you travel too, depends on the child that you picked from the photo album shown in Kiev.
- How much information is available on the children, and do we have time to get it translated?
You get pretty much all the information the Adoption Center has on the children and their birth parents. The amount of information you receive varies for each child.
- Do we have time to fax the medical information to a doctor in the US if we have concerns?
You can take all the time you would like, but of course the faster you decide on adopting the children, the faster you will get home. Faxing the doctors in the US is strictly up to you, and you are given that option. However, you can also request that an American Doctor from Kiev accompany you to the orphanage to evaluate the children.
- Are we allowed to play with the children for a while and observe them in their own environment?
You can if that is what you want before you decide to actually take the child or not.
- If we aren't sure about the children, can we come back the next day for a while?
You can take as long as you need to make sure the children are right for you.
