You do not get an invitation letter from the Adoption Center. Rather, you, your facilitator, and/or your advisor
pick a travel date that is 1)available for all parties, and 2) is far enough away that can have your paperwork ready.
As soon as you get your INS approval, fax and go over your dossier with your advisor. If everything looks good,
send a copy of your dossier to your facilitator. This will give the facilitator a chance to get a head start on
translation of your dossier. It is at this point, a travel date should be set. Before the INS approval, you must
simply wait. Sometimes due to scheduling, your travel date may be several months away.
While your facilitator translates your dossier copy, you must take your actual dossier to be authenticated
by the Secretary of State, your Federal district (if applicable), and by your district's Ukraine Embassy. Once you
have received all of these authentications and stamps, your dossier will be sent to the Adoption Center in Ukraine.
When the Adoption Center receives your dossier, they will contact your facilitator. Your facilitator will then
pick up the dossier and finish translating it (the authentications were not on his copy). Once translated, he
will submit it to the Adoption Center for approval. Within ten days after the Adoption Center receives the
translated dossier, you will receive approval from the Adoption Center and may travel at any time. For more
information on the authentication process, be sure to check out the Dossier and Authentication
section of Adoption Info.
In addition to having your dossier authenticated and sent to Ukraine, you must also receive your visa and your letter of
invitation. More information on these documents are also available in the
Dossier and Authentication section of Adoption Info.
